Federally-Legal

aka federally legal

Federally-legal in the cannabis context means a product complies with the 2018 Farm Bill and is therefore not a federally controlled substance. Hemp-derived products meeting the 0.3% Delta-9 THC dry-weight threshold are federally legal — though state laws may restrict them further.

Example: Federally-legal does not mean state-legal; check your state laws.

Etymology: Common-language regulatory shorthand.
