Phenotype
aka pheno
A phenotype is the observable expression of a plant's genetics — the actual look, smell, structure, and chemistry of an individual plant grown from seed. Two seeds from the same parent cross can produce dramatically different phenotypes; the breeder's job is to identify and clone the most desirable expression for commercial release.
Example: This is the cut-3 phenotype, a gassier expression than the cut-1.
Etymology: From Greek 'phainein' (to show) + 'typos' (type); coined in genetics in 1909.
