THCP

aka tetrahydrocannabiphorol

THCP (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a minor cannabinoid first identified in 2019, structurally similar to THC but with a longer alkyl side chain that produces dramatically stronger CB1 receptor binding affinity (estimated 30x THC). THCP is potent at very small doses and is found naturally in some cannabis cultivars in trace amounts.

Example: THCP gummies use very small per-piece doses because of its potency.

Etymology: Identified and named by an Italian research team led by Citti et al. in 2019.
