Tincture
aka sublingual
A tincture is a cannabis extract suspended in an oil (MCT, hemp seed) or alcohol carrier, dosed via dropper. Tinctures are taken sublingually (under the tongue) for faster onset (15-45 minutes) than edibles, or added to food or drinks for slower oral onset. Common in CBD and increasingly in THCA wellness formulations.
Example: The CBN tincture helps her sleep without grogginess.
Etymology: From Latin 'tinctura,' a pharmaceutical preparation tradition predating modern cannabis.
