Trim
aka sugar leaf trim
Trim is the small leaves and excess plant matter cut away from the buds during post-harvest processing. Trim contains some cannabinoids and trichomes but at lower concentrations than the buds. It is typically sold to extraction labs to make distillate, RSO, or edibles, rather than smoked directly.
Example: Most distillate carts start with trim, not flower.
Etymology: Industry-standard cultivation term.
